What
happened in #ans?

Ever
since #ans started, there's been contraversy. A second ansi art
channel, run by a group? There hasn't been this sort of thing
since Tribe was running #ansi. When the channel first started,
it was almost a public place for the legion members, but soon,
it gathered more attention & local visitors, and has become
an alternative place for ansi artists.
I'm sure
most of you are wondering why an ascii artist is writing an article
about an ansi channel? Well, the answer's simple. It involves
me, and I'm writing this to straighten out a few rumors, and get
this shit together.
When #ans
was started, it was having problems with keeping ops. They didn't
have a stable bot a the time, so I was asked. I agreed, and put
my bots in. Soon, I got a bot ONLY for the channel, and put it
in instead of my botnet. This ran well for a couple weeks, before
the #ans owners decided they would like their own bots. Fine by
me, I let them.
About a month
or so later, the channel was being run by Archangel & his
bots. A week or so (as of this writing), the channel was opless
and there was a netsplit. Wanting to help out, I rode the split
& gained ops. ThClone met me on that split, and requested
that I op him. After some discussion, I decided not to.
So this
is the story, I'm trying to hold the channel for them, keeping
it +snt, and regulated, while trying to prevent a takeover. Unfortunately,
many of the #ans ops didn't understand this, and attempted to
flood / packet warrior my bots & I (uprise). After about 10
hours or so, I gave it up, since I didn't want to be attacked
any longer, and gave it to the #ans ops.
This brings
us to now. Yesterday, Konami had taken the channel with Archangel's
help & botnet. Basically, all the former owners & masters
were no longer what they were, and Konami was trying to get the
channel straightened out, much like I had done earlier. But, as
history repeats itself, the #ans ops didn't aprove much.
What's the
problem? The problem is this: I was in #ans when konami had control,
with ops. For some reason, people are thinking myself, and my
group are in on this takeover. WRONG. I, Black Jack have nothing
against or for #ans. I am not supporting any 'change' in the channel,
and neither is my ascii group, Mimic Productions. I simply had
ops on the botnet, and that is all. The only connection #ans had
with Mimic was Konami & myself. Us being 2 of the 3 founders
of mimic.
Another thing
which I don't understand is what's the big deal? I thought #ans
was a channel where ansi artists talked freely about ansi? When
I had the channel, I kept it like that, but people complained..
I guess they wanted their powertrip? I guess they wanted to kickban
people. (#ansi?).
Anyhow, that's
the end of the story. Sure, I have cussed out a few #ans ops in
the past, and maybe said some stupid things to the members, but
don't we all?
You decide.
Black Jack,
Mimic Productions.
