<dangermouse> ?
<dangermouse> i must be really really lagged
<dangermouse> whoa

-< [ctcp(dngrmouse)] PING

<dangermouse> ok..
<dangermouse> welp, here I am talking with good old dystro..
<dystro> oops
<dystro> sorry :)
<dystro> yeap
<dystro> bad ass dystro

<dangermouse> so man, tell me a little bout yerself.. you know, name, age, sex, hobbies.. live.. the usual crap
<dystro> okie@#$
<dystro> greg, 16, male.. i think, skateboarding / raping gerbils, goats, partying, swimming, el paso, texas
<dangermouse> hah
<dangermouse> ahh cool shit
<dystro> yeap :)

<dangermouse> now, to the scene.. we all know your now in toolshed, but do tell about the years prior to this, how you got going and the first group
<dystro> ok
<dangermouse> ok was the first group? cool yeah so.. :)
<dangermouse> go on :)
<dystro> well i got into the bbs scene in early 1994
<dystro> :)
<dangermouse> yep
<dystro> and then i got into iNSoMNiA in late 1994
<dystro> and then i discovered sexy irc, and i joined EMiC with my local friend
<dystro> and i doodled my first ansis
<dystro> and they sucked hardcore
<dangermouse> haha
<dangermouse> as most first ones do
<dystro> :)
<dystro> yeap :)
<dystro> i mean they really sucked
<dangermouse> aha..

*** Joins: cool_g (coolguy@iasc1-25.flash.net)
*** Parts: cool_g (coolguy@iasc1-25.flash.net)

<dangermouse> thats nice
<dangermouse> good old cool guy
<dangermouse> :>
<dystro> yeap :)
<dangermouse> yep well, what are your memories of the old days (ie. insomnia <-- complete with leet letters), etc.. ?
<dystro> well
<dystro> insomnia was a local elite group.. totally rad.. it had umm 2-3 ppl in it
<dangermouse> whoa, huge
<dystro> and like we all sat around and discussed bbs stuff on party line
<dystro> was truly sexy
<dangermouse>(yeah.. any art involved or)

<dangermouse> any budding doodle boys go on to international stardom!?
<dystro> yeah well hooptie is local :)
<dystro> and prophet from oil
<dangermouse> ahh.. was he in EMiC or ?
<dystro> no.. well illusion was in EMiC
<dystro> but you probably dont know him
<dystro> he was in the bbs modding groups

<dangermouse> ahh
<dangermouse> so around this time you got into the irc and EmiC, the WWW was taking off -- local groups were turning into international groups -- did you follow the lead?
<dystro> well none of my local groups got past local :)
<dangermouse> yes, but you must have joined a big-mother group (hmm!?)
<dangermouse> one that was local in some sense at some stage..
<dystro> nope :)
<dystro> well after EMiC i like joined FSW and PROJECT-X
<dangermouse> haha.. fair enough, one of few ppl that believe in keeping things local by the looks of it..
<dangermouse> so, you pretty much like the small groups then
<dystro> well kinda :)
<dystro> i mean i'm not good enough to get into big ones
<dangermouse> hmm

<dangermouse> well, talking about the internet and big groups, *coughsplatter*, how do you think its affected the way things are done in the scene?
<dangermouse> how groups are run.. etc
<dystro> well the internet basically fucked the big groups
<dangermouse> yeah
<dystro> i mean #ansi RUINED most of the good groups
<dangermouse> haha
<dystro> pissed off the good artists.. and really fucked up their minds.. like *coughonedcough*
<dangermouse> yeah, maybe the net sorta enlarged some of their egos you think?
<dangermouse> "im too good for you, piss off" sort of attitude..
<dystro> yes.. i believe that statement
<dystro> "PHEAR THE ICE.ORG"
<dangermouse> yeah :)
<dystro> or whatever that shit is
<dystro> hehe

<dangermouse> a question i ask often is this: Do you think the scene has long to live? tell the truth as you see it..
<dystro> well still theres some nice old-skewl ppl out there
<dystro> "hi maestro!" :)
<dangermouse> hehe
<dystro> the scene is dying as we speak.. i haven't seen any good art in umm like 5 months or so...
<dangermouse> yeah
<dystro> we need a big revival...
<dystro> maybe if oned would get off his damn ass and draw another mag or something
<dystro> and we could all help
<dangermouse> yeah.. well, bringing the WWW up again -- do you think its too blame.. I mean, does ANSI have a place anymore?
<dangermouse> it seems the VGA artists are the ones with the future..
<dystro> well the WWW is pretty neat .. i mean its cool and all.. but ansi on a web page .. wtf?
<dangermouse> yeah, exactly..
<dystro> yeah vga artists definately have a place in the future
<dystro> and they can get jobs unlike ansi artists *grin*
<dystro> er i mean for their art
<dangermouse> yeah, we're not all losers :)

<dangermouse> it seems that the telnetable bbs resurgance didn't/hasn't lasted that long either.. there was a faint glimmer of hope there for a while
<dystro> i know
<dystro> i tried running a telnetable board myself
<dystro> but it was too much of a pain in the ass
<dangermouse> yeah
<dystro> if they came up with a better netmodem maybe there still is a chance...
<dangermouse> yah, we can all hope
<dystro> i know :)

<dangermouse> well, on a different note.. who do you see as your inspirations when you first got started -- and who are they now?
<dangermouse> or indeed, the groups you looked up to..
<dystro> well
<dystro> my inspirations started out as well the artists who worked on alderaan (mindcrime's bbs)
<dystro> chromatik mainly
<dystro> i jizzed when i first logged on his 888
<dystro> err wait i called long distance
<dystro> :)
<dystro> when i got a 1994 blade pack
<dangermouse> hehe
<dangermouse> yep
<dystro> yeah
<dangermouse> who do you admire now-a-days within the scene?
<dangermouse> for artistic talent and work for the scene?
<dystro> admire
<dystro> well
<dystro> now-a-days
<dangermouse> hard question? :)
<dystro> like this month or so?
<dangermouse> i mean, just overall
<dystro> yeah ive only seen one pack in the last month :)
<dystro> but i still look back at all of lordjazz's art
<dystro> and try to get ideas
<dangermouse> yah
<dangermouse> lordjazz, the hero of the scene it seems ..
<dangermouse> the hercules of the underground..
<dangermouse> the ..
<dangermouse> yeah :>

<dangermouse> welp, anything else exciting happen in your dismal life then? (ed: dismal, hmm a bit harsh?)
<dangermouse> :>
<dangermouse> guess not then.
<dangermouse> you alive or something?
<dystro> yeah
<dystro> sorry about that
<dystro> exciting in my life back then .....
<dystro> well
<dystro> i grew a pube
<dangermouse> woo hoo!
<dangermouse> welp.. ill have to draw this interview of sorts to a close
<dystro> er i mean
<dystro> umm not really .. just normal life
<dystro> trying to rip ansis
<dystro> you know the way it works
<dystro> hehe
<dangermouse> haha.. rip ansis?
<dangermouse> hmm.. no
<dangermouse> :>
<dangermouse> anyways.. nice talking to you..
