You're looking at the last static copy (1999) of Acheron.org, more recent but partial copies exist in the wayback machine. This site is online out of nostalgia and because of it's historic content, an up to date ANSI/ASCII art archive is available from 16colo.rs

creator - recap
with dangermouse

Session Start: Thu Sep 10 18:10:23 1998

Dangermouse:
acheron interviewed you not so long ago about avenge, and your new emag called friction. Basically, we want to know more about it.. Firstly, what is it?

Creator:
Well, friction is a webzine dedicated to reviews and top10.. Reviews will include ansi/hirez/ascii packs and top10 will include ansi/hirez/ascii. I cant really do a top10 for .rip since heh. not enough to go around.

Also we are putting together a large online viewing database where people can go to the zine and click on any of the ansi tutorials and view the ansi tutorials while on the web

Dangermouse:
How are you converting the ANSI and ASCII to hirez?

Creator:
Using GDS graphic Display System. This was introduced to me by uh, you. and it kicks ass...

Dangermouse:
Actually retribution showed me it -- I know, its probably the easiest conversion program out there at the moment.

Creator:
Heh it kicks ass. It allows the viewer to view the ansi like your in a ansi editor or viewer. lil details in the blocks etc

Dangermouse:
Give me a low down on the organisational structure of the web site -- how has it been produced so that updating and the like is quick and painless? Do you have any staff members?

Creator:
Right now the staff consists of myself and the Knave(ice). We have created a awesome site that will load fast while keeping it graphically intense. We are going towards a more group oriented structure where we release once a month and each person has a certain duty. Whether it be layout updates, hirez, interviews, etc...

It's like my homely group avenge.. a family that gives people who do other mediums a place to release. not much support for web developers etc in the art world

Dangermouse:
So basically your just saying only you and The Knave are the staff :)

Creator:
Right now yes. I have had some donaters however

Dangermouse:
WEll, only me and Spot are the acheron.org staff

Creator:
Heh, i want a more steady staff...

Dangermouse:
SO WE BOTH NEED STAFF.. JOIN UP!@#@*&

Dangermouse:
Its great to see another scene serving web site join the ranks.. Of late a few people have started them - namely Operation Rescue and theartscene.home.ml.org .. Do you feel the competition well benefit the scene - is there enough content to share around?

Creator:
HEh so where do we start?

Dangermouse:
I remember when Ampersand and Superunknown were around when acheron.org first got going.. I would say they didn't die because of the lack of content, but more so due to operators losing interest..

Creator:
I think that this inter-site competition will be cool, but im sorry to say acheron and frictions competition isnt all that great other than scenelink :)

Dangermouse:
now now ;)

Creator:
heeh. call me a prick, heh

Dangermouse:
I agree though, competition produces better content and better sites-- benefiting the scene

"prick"

Creator:
Content isnt all that great on other sites

Dangermouse:
theartscene.home.ml.org does need a bit of work I must admit..

Creator:
and operation rescue is updated when it is most convienient for him.. which is once maybe every couple months and when the updates are done there incomplete..

Dangermouse:
How is the company Razorshift coming along?

Creator:
Razorshift is in a re-shape phase right now. Myself and my business partner spot are working on marketing our services pretty strong for the end of the year.... we should have a all new homepage up within the next couple weeks that will show just exactly some things we do

Dangermouse:
Yeah, do you find it is hard to get yourselves known to the wider business public? Sometimes it requires advertising the internet cannot provide such as magazines, newpapers, etc..

Creator:
Well we do have certain benefits as far as outside marketing. So we will be pushing fairly soon on commercials on radio stations, news papers, magazines, etc...

Like i said, we are re-sculpting.. once we have things set to go you will hear about the marketing tactics..

Dangermouse:
Is cost a factor?

Creator:
Cost isnt really a factor... myself and my partner are going to be working with a budget and putting some funds into it, but mostly our tactics will use my year and a half towards business management and marketing and spots thrive towards perfecting my screw ups :) we are the perfect team

Razorshift Studios will be showing the public some pretty incredible sites within the next few months including our donated services towards the new Iniquity site...

Dangermouse:
I myself come from the industry, and work within it almost every day -- I find a lot of companies offer there services, and often they are substandard and quite often dearer than another companies rates -- whom are beter.. Does this disturb you?

Creator:
That doesnt disturb me much.. Most piss poor developing companies dont do that great of a job, and they charge hourly.. Razorshift isnt a web development company... Well, we do web sites, but someone can do a 1 page web site and have text and call it a web site.

We are more of a development team that creates custom intense sites... If you want to know what web customization is hit http://www.gabocorp.com. That company is one of the many i know of that keep there standards where they are while giving the buyer a site they paid for that is unique

Creator:
Damn im doodling and typeing... phear :)

"doodle" -- who the fuck came up with that

Dangermouse:
i "lub" whoever did

How's avenge coming along btw?

Creator:
Avenge is as usual, great.. hehe.. We are coming up on our 1 year anniversary soon. And then we will unleash to the public Avenge goodies like mouse pads, tshirts, Avenge puzzlez, calanders... etc..

Dangermouse:
How's the rivalry between Legion? seems to be a good thing to get some other competition in the scene..

Creator:
HAha, legion.. well, we are going great, our last pack is actually giving legion something to try and beat.. Although recently people join legion cause of the fame part, they dont realize avenge is one of the groups that can whoop the shit out of all others :)

Avenge has something no other group has right now, a family atmosphere

Dangermouse:
Whoa, what sort of money is that setting you guys back, for the mats, etc.

Creator:
Well, not really setting us back. Heh, i work in the industry part time so i can print em as i get the orders :)

Dangermouse:
I should get acheron.org ones done at the same time..

Creator:
heh

Dangermouse:
Seriously, it would be phat

Creator:
That would be a awesome thing to have

Dangermouse:
Get some art done up by catbones or something :0

Anyways, thats about all we have time for, ill talk to you later dude..
